On March 24, the CIHC 2026 China Hydrogen Expo Football Friendly Match concluded successfully in Beijing. More than just a vibrant sporting event, the tournament served as a unique platform that brought together the hydrogen energy industry and the spirit of teamwork, fostering meaningful connections and cross-sector engagement among industry participants.
As one of the event organizers, the Hydrogen Energy Football Alliance, together with Beijing Future New Materials Co., Ltd., one of the event sponsors, provided full support throughout the day. The program was carefully designed to combine an industry exploration tour in the morning with an afternoon football tournament, creating opportunities for both in-depth industry exchange and stronger team cohesion.
The event not only ignited enthusiasm among hydrogen industry professionals but also strengthened trust, collaboration, and partnership across the hydrogen ecosystem through the unifying power of sportsmanship, contributing fresh momentum to the industry's high-quality development.
Industry Tour: Exploring Innovation and New Opportunities in Hydrogen Energy
In the morning, Su Caihua, General Manager of Future Hydrogen and one of the event organizers, led representatives from nearly 100 organizations across the hydrogen value chain on a visit to the Zhongguancun (Daxing) International Hydrogen Energy Demonstration Zone.
Home to more than 200 hydrogen-related enterprises, the demonstration zone has become one of China's most important hydrogen innovation hubs. Participants visited a number of flagship projects and enterprises, including the Hyper Hydrogen Refueling Station, Zero-Carbon Industrial Park Demonstration Project, Haiderliz, and Qingwei Membrane Technology, gaining firsthand insights into China's advancements in hydrogen technology and industrial innovation.
On behalf of the visiting delegation, Su expressed sincere appreciation to the Zhongguancun (Daxing) International Hydrogen Energy Demonstration Zone for its warm hospitality and thoughtful arrangements.
"We are grateful for the opportunity to visit one of China's leading and internationally recognized hydrogen industry clusters. The tour allowed us to experience firsthand the innovation vitality and industrial strength driving the development of hydrogen technologies while fostering friendship and deeper industry exchange through sport," Su remarked.
Football Friendly Match: Building Connections Through Sport
In the afternoon, under clear skies and an energetic atmosphere, the football tournament officially kicked off at the South Garden of Beijing Olympic Forest Park.
Before the opening match, Han Zhigang, founder of the China Hydrogen Energy Football Friendly Match initiative, presented a commemorative team jersey to Lv Yan, representative of the CIHC 2026 China Hydrogen Expo organizing committee, marking the official launch of the competition.
Four teams participated in the tournament:
Purple Team – "Future Hydrogen Team"
White Team – "Tiger Team"
Blue Team – "Junrui Team"
Red Team – "Hydrogen Health Team"
Throughout the matches, players demonstrated outstanding teamwork, determination, and competitive spirit. Every pass, tackle, shot, and defensive play reflected the passion and resilience that characterize professionals within the hydrogen industry. The players competed fiercely while embodying the values of collaboration and perseverance.
A Thrilling Championship Match
Following two hours of intense competition and four exciting matches, the championship final featured a showdown between the Purple Team (Future Hydrogen Team) and the White Team (Tiger Team).
The final delivered dramatic moments from start to finish. Less than ten minutes into the match, the Tiger Team had already established a two-goal lead, seemingly putting victory within reach. However, in the final three minutes before the whistle, the Future Hydrogen Team launched an extraordinary comeback, breaking through the opposition's defense twice to level the score in dramatic fashion.
The match proceeded to a penalty shootout, where the Future Hydrogen Team ultimately prevailed, securing the championship title of the CIHC 2026 China Hydrogen Expo Football Friendly Match.
In addition to the championship trophy, individual honors including the Golden Boot Award, Golden Glove Award, and Best Player Award were presented to outstanding participants in recognition of their exceptional performances.
The organizing committee also presented commemorative trophies to the event organizers, supporting organizations, and sponsors, expressing gratitude for their contributions to the success of the tournament.
Strengthening Industry Connections Through Sports
The football friendly match successfully created a dynamic networking platform for the hydrogen industry. Senior executives, technical experts, and representatives from organizations across the hydrogen value chain came together not only to compete on the field but also to strengthen professional relationships and exchange ideas in a relaxed and engaging environment.
