16 Major Contracts for AEM Hydrogen Production from 9 Enterprises: A Testament to Booming Market Vitality
Since 2025, 16 contracts secured by 9 enterprises including Sungrow Green Hydrogen, EVE Hydrogen Energy, Wolong Enodis, Qingluan Technology, Hydrogen Start Energy, Winstone Hydrogen Energy, Zhuyu New Energy, Clean Energy Co., Ltd., and Future Hydrogen Energy (compiled based on public information, subject to omissions) have evidenced a remarkable uptick in the activity of the AEM hydrogen production market. Details are as follows:
1. Sungrow Green Hydrogen: Commissioning of 100kW AEM Electrolyzer
In December, the independently developed 100kW Anion Exchange Membrane (AEM) electrolyzer by Sungrow Green Hydrogen was successfully powered on and officially put into trial operation. Sungrow Green Hydrogen stated that starting with the commissioning of this 100kW device, the company will successively complete the assembly and trial operation of 250kW and 1000kW AEM electrolyzers within the next six months, continuously consolidating the technological foundation for high-power green hydrogen equipment and accelerating the industrialization of AEM water electrolysis hydrogen production technology.
2. EVE Hydrogen Energy: Product Delivery for Multiple Projects
On December 12, field commissioning was completed. The customized electrolyzer test bench developed by EVE Hydrogen Energy for a Singaporean research institute has been officially installed at a local hydrogen energy laboratory, providing full-scenario and precise testing support for its AEM water electrolysis technology research.
In November, the result of the self-purchasing transaction for a 16kW AEM hydrogen production all-in-one machine at Harbin Institute of Technology was announced, with EVE Hydrogen Energy winning the bid.
In September, EVE Hydrogen Energy's AEM modular hydrogen production system was shipped to the University of New South Wales in Australia, set to serve the university's distributed photovoltaic hydrogen production project. In the same month, another set of EVE's AEM modular hydrogen production system departed for delivery to a bioengineering enterprise in Qingdao, custom-deployed to meet the enterprise-level large-scale hydrogen production demands.
In August, EVE Hydrogen Energy's AEM modular hydrogen production system was delivered to an industrial company in Shandong. This delivery marked the first application of the company's AEM modular hydrogen production system in the industrial sector.
In January, EVE Hydrogen Energy's AEM hydrogen production system for China State Construction & Engineering Technology's low-carbon building project was successfully delivered and put into operation.
3. Winstone Hydrogen Energy: Product Delivery to Taiwan (China) and Austrian Customers
On December 10, Winstone Hydrogen Energy fulfilled an order for an AEM hydrogen production system to a customer in Taiwan (China). This was a repeat order—the customer had purchased a 10kW hydrogen production system in November 2024 and, after one year of operation, recognized the excellent performance of Winstone's AEM hydrogen production equipment and placed another order.
On July 21, Winstone Hydrogen Energy's AEM hydrogen production system was shipped to Austria for application in household energy storage scenarios. Following successful market expansion in the Asia-Pacific, South America, and the Middle East, Winstone Hydrogen Energy has successfully entered the European market, providing high-end hydrogen production equipment for overseas customers.
In June, Winstone Hydrogen Energy successfully won the bid for the "60MW Water Electrolysis Hydrogen Production Integrated Equipment Project".
4. Hydrogen Start Energy: Small-Batch Commercial Order Delivery
In September, Hydrogen Start Energy achieved small-batch commercial delivery of its 2.5kW and 10kW AEM system products. Over ten units of the 2.5kW product have been sold, and two sales contracts for the 10kW product have been signed. Sales contracts for 100–250kW products have also been inked, with delivery expected to be completed within the year.
5. Wolong Enodis: Overseas Product Delivery
News in June indicated that Wolong Enodis, a leader in AEM water electrolysis hydrogen production, entered into a landmark cooperation with Jia'an Hydrogen Source, a top player in domestic hydrogen purification. The two parties signed an annual framework order for 33 sets of AEM water electrolysis hydrogen production dryers. These dryers will be matched with 33 sets of Wolong Enodis' AEM Nexus 1000 and AEM Nexus 500 water electrolysis hydrogen production equipment for export to European and American markets.
In May, Wolong Enodis officially delivered China's first domestically produced megawatt-class AEM hydrogen production equipment overseas. The product boasts a system lifespan of up to 80,000 hours and a current density as high as 8000A/m².
6. Qingluan Technology: Megawatt-Class AEM Hydrogen Production Project
On May 30, China Three Gorges Electronics Procurement Platform released the public notice of candidates for the EPC general contracting project of the Three Gorges Energy Beihai Green Power Hydrogen Production Research and Demonstration Project. The consortium consisting of Hope Clean Energy Group Engineering Technology Co., Ltd., Shanghai Survey, Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd., Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Shanghai Qingluan Technology Co., Ltd. ranked first among the candidates, with a bid price of RMB 28,500,000. This project marks China Three Gorges Corporation's first AEM hydrogen production project, officially filed in February this year, followed by the release of the EPC general contracting project tender announcement on April 16, with the tenderee being Three Gorges New Energy Tian'e Power Generation Co., Ltd.
7. Zhuyu New Energy: Product Integration into Australian Green Methanol Production System
In April, the independently developed AEM anion exchange membrane hydrogen production equipment—Luminous—by Zhuyu New Energy was successfully integrated into an Australian green methanol production system, achieving stable operation and passing acceptance checks.
8. Clean Energy Co., Ltd.: Signing of First 5MW AEM System Order
In January, Clean Energy Co., Ltd. signed an order for its first set of 5MW AEM system with Tianjin Zhonghe Energy, marking a crucial step forward for the company in promoting the commercialization of advanced AEM electrolysis technology.
9. Future Hydrogen Energy: Shipment and Delivery of 125kW AEM Electrolyzer to Huaneng Jiuquan Power Plant
On January 12, Future Hydrogen Energy shipped and delivered the world's first 125kW AEM electrolyzer to Huaneng Jiuquan Power Plant. Equipped with fully proprietary core AEM materials and featuring enhanced large-capacity configuration, the electrolyzer supports megawatt-scale expansion. Future Hydrogen Energy focuses on AEM catalysts, electrode products, and hydrogen production technical services, contributing to the large-scale development of AEM technology.
