The global hydrogen market is projected to surge from US$125 billion in 2021, reaching 179.8 million tonnes by 2030—a 7.5 % CAGR. China, already the world’s largest hydrogen producer with 33 million tonnes in 2021 (one-third of global output), is expected—under its dual-carbon goals—to concentrate new water-electrolysis capacity in northwestern regions rich in renewable power, such as Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang.

According to *Workers’ Daily*, on 24 July the first 50 submerged-arc-welded, longitudinal-seam pure-hydrogen transmission pipes for the Baotou–Damaoqi section of China’s first cross-provincial, long-distance, large-scale green-hydrogen pipeline—the Ulanqab (Inner Mongolia) to Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei hydrogen transmission demonstration project—rolled off the production line at CPI Baoshishun’s plant in Qinhuangdao, Hebei.
